We woke up feeling pretty puny today, but are trying to push through as the week is still full of activities, and you’re only in China once (or maybe twice). Todays adventure was to go to the safari park while we waited to hear back on the TB test. First stop in the park was a safari on wheels, which is kind of like the safari if you’ve been to animal kingdom.
It was fun to go with friends, especially for EvaKate to have her buddy Mara along!
The safari was a bit different than in the US. It was probably a lot less safe, but there was a lot more interaction with the animals. For the carnivores, they threw them pieces of meat, which kept them moving and active.
Then, throughout other exhibits, you got to feed the animals! We fed giraffes and elephants. The girls (and us!) loved it!
When we got to Guangzhou, the hotel here gave us a little backpack for Naomi that had a few items in it, but the highlight was a stuffed panda with a little Chinese jacket on. She LOVED it! I could tell it was quickly becoming her lovey too, so we picked up an extra one. Every time she sees a panda she yells show-ma! Which I am assuming is panda in Chinese.
We had already decided to come to the Safari Park while stateside, and hoped little miss would be ok tagging along. She LOVED it! I was so glad, and relived that she seems to be adventurous and constantly excitedly taking everything in.
One of the highlights at the safari park was the pandas, and she just stared mesmerized at them. It was so precious!
EK took a spin on the carousel before we headed out.
I wanted to grab a picture of my girls in their cute rompers, but Naomi was in classic toddler mode, where it was only going to happen on her time, on her terms, so this is the best I got. So funny to be back in toddler mode! I’m way more chill on the power struggles now than I was with my first one.
By the time we left we were pretty exhausted. No news was good news on the TB test, and we were soaked through. It’s really not that hot here, it’s the humidity! It has to be at least 90%. Even in the room, when you lay on the sheets, or use the towels evything feels slightly damp. I’ve all but given up on my hair, and I’m SO glad I listened to everyone and brought plenty of clothes and underwear! Laundry is expensive and if you do it in the room it won’t dry.
We are heading to eat legit Chinese food with our guides tonight, and all 7 families. We will probably be a party of about 30 with all the kids. I may throw a picture up tonight, and update anymore happenings.

FYI you are right about panda in Chinese. 😊
I checked w my kids. Theirs actually sounded more like “shoe maw”. But close enough in my opinion😊
Hope you can shake off the puny feelings. We will be praying.
So much fun to be had there.
