Barely keeping my eyes open after our long and fun filled day.
Today we headed to Shaiman Island, which is nearby our hotel. It’s a pretty iconic spot for adoption parents. All the adoptions in China used to be finalized on that island, before they moved the US consulate. They still have several shops and restaurants there, as well as an infamous statue, which we of course grabbed a quick picture of our girls by.
There doesn’t seem to be much order or lines in Chinese society, so we just grabbed what we could, while a bunch of Chinese people snapped pictures of my American daughter.
After doing lots of economic stimulation for our friends and family back home, we went to a pretty infamous restaurant on the island, Lucy’s. It caters to it’s main clientele: Americans, with menu items like burgers, spaghetti and hot dogs. I’ve eaten more burgers in the last week than in the last month at home 🙂
For me it wasn’t the food that made it totally worth being soaked through in sweat, but this.
A big ol’ glass of sweet tea! Girlfriend loved it too! She’s ready for the south…just need to get some Chick-Fil-A in her!
We were all pretty exhausted after the island, so much so, that this happened on the bus ride back
As soon as I put her down in the room though, she was wide awake, so we decided to head down to the pool.
Initially she was a bit apprehensive again, but she quickly warmed up!
Everytime Chris or EvaKate would go under water she would yell at them…it was hilarious! Everything her file said led us to believe we we getting a super chill, sweet little girl. Nope. She has a bunch of feistiness and sass, just like her big sister. I secretly love it. Girls are more fun with a little spice!
After the pool we headed to a massive department store with a supermarket on the bottom level, women’s clothing and luggage on the second, kids stuff on the third, and housewares on the top. It was massive…just as big as any Americna one, maybe bigger. We got a better stroller, since we don’t have an everyday type one at home, more bottled water and diapers, plus some goggles since I forgot to pack those. Just the basics 🙂
While we were looking at luggage, I snapped this pic of EK by a random Baymax.
We grabbed dinner with our good friends at the Irish pub (where we ordered nachos!) and are now going to try to get some rest before another fun day tomorrow.
We are basically just waiting for our medical test results, and for our consulate appointment Tuesday, which is why we are filling up time with fun activities.
Looking forward to the Safari Park bright and early!
